Programs
SBCC Study Abroad Program offers short and semester programs every academic year. Programs are faculty-led and therefore destinations as well as course offerings change each year. The programs are typically shorter than an SBCC semester and have a full course load, so courses are condensed and academic schedules may be more demanding. But that demanding pace is part of the magic — it means more class time on-site, more excursions, and more unforgettable moments packed into every single day abroad.
We strive to offer financially accessible programs. With an emphasis on diversity and affordability, SBCC Study Abroad aims to offer programs to a diverse student body. Scroll down below the program offerings for a video with step-by-step instructions to apply and a Study Abroad Resource Guide.
Semester Programs
Semester programs run fall or spring for up to 90 days — enough time to actually settle into a new culture, build real relationships, and grow your language skills, not just skim the surface. Destinations, courses, and directors change every year, so each cohort gets a fresh experience.
For community college students, it's a big win: more transferable credits in one trip, plus independence and global awareness that stand out on transfer apps and resumes. Many programs work with federal financial aid, too. Just read the program details, check the payment schedule, and plan 1–2 semesters ahead — deadlines and fees vary.

Studying abroad can be one of the most rewarding and exciting chapters of your academic journey. Learning + travel = education at its best.
That said, before you commit to a program, do your homework first. Look into the program, the provider, and the coursework offered so you know it's actually the right fit for you. Once you're in, you're expected to enroll in all courses offered through the program and stay enrolled the whole time.
Thinking about one of SBCC's programs? We strongly recommend hitting up the program's info meeting with the program director, or meeting one-on-one with the Study Abroad Program Advisor plus your Academic and Financial Aid Advisor. Click HERE for a calendar of events.
